Frequently Asked Questions

How can we help?

What is paramedical tattooing?
Paramedical tattooing is an advanced form of cosmetic tattooing used to improve and restore the skin following a change in its appearance after injury. This technique is used to restore the appearance of scars, burns and stretch marks. We offer two techniques: inkless (no pigment) and camouflage with pigment.

How is paramedical tattooing performed?
We use an implanting machine and micro-needling techniques to disrupt the superficial layers of the skin. We will then tattoo the pigment into the treatment area. For inkless treatments we implant medical grade solution (all vegan with FDA approved ingredients).

Is it suitable for me?
You may be an ideal candidate for paramedical tattooing if:
You wish to conceal surgical scars, childhood scars, hypopigmentation, white patches, stretch marks, self-harm scars, acne scars, transition scars, skin grafts, burns and vitiligo.
If you are specifically wanting to conceal the appearance of scars, they should be:

  • Fully healed and no longer pink or changing colour
  • Without dark edges
  • Relatively flat (slightly raised and rough scars will require pre- treatment with LED)

If you are specifically wanting to conceal stretch marks, they should be:

  • Over two years old
  • White/silver in colour

Is the procedure painful?
Everyone’s pain threshold is different, most of our clients say, “it’s just scratchy”.

Do I need to take time off work?
Paramedical tattooing treatments have minimal downtime, and most clients do not need to take any time off work. We utilise the power of medical grade Dermalux® LED to enhance healing and recovery.

After care advice will be discussed during your consultation and further individualised advice given depending on area being treated.

What are the side effects?
Following the procedure, you may experience some swelling and redness. This is generally mild and will subside within one to three days.

You may also find the colour of your tattoo/skin will be darker than expected for the first five to ten days. Over time, the tattoo will fade to blend in better with the surrounding skin. Full healing time will take place between four to eight weeks depending on your body’s healing ability.

How many tattoo colours are available?
We have currently 21 Nue Conceal CE certified pigments that can be customised to suit your individual needs.

We also use a revolutionary device which reads client’s skin tone. The device then transmits the data into our NUE App. The app then uses an algorithm to identify NUE pigment combination to use to match your skin tone.

We love this gadget!

Do paramedical tattoos fade?
Paramedical tattooing is semi permanent, this means they will fade over time. While results have been known to last for several years, you will need maintenance treatments in the future.

What happens when I tan?
The sun won’t ruin your camouflage tattoo at all. Once your scar or stretch marks are camouflaged, there will be less of a contrast between your tan.

How many sessions will I need for stretch marks?
After just one session you can notice around 30% – 40% improvement. Most clients will need a follow up session. Patience is key and most of all, trusting the process.

What is the cost?
Inkless treatment for stretch marks from $250

Surgical Scar Revision from $450

Scar camouflage with pigments from $350

(Final cost will be provided at your consultation)

What results can I expect with scars and stretch marks?

  • Reduced severity
  • Reduced depth
  • Reduced colour difference
  • Be less noticeable
